Telegraph to telephone

In 1870's Alexander Graham Bell and Elisha Gray both independently invented a device that could transmit speech electrically. Thier designs were similar. Both rushed thier designs to the patent office. Alexander Graham Bell patent his telephone first. Both inventors had a huge legal battle over invention of telephone, which Bell won. So Alexander Graham Bell is considered the inventor of the phone. Before the invention of the telephone, telegraph was a major medium of communication. 1. It’s amazing how much we have advanced in technology. Whenever people think of the first telephone, they think of the crank wall telephone. The ability to have a chat with others across country was far from being reached in the early 1700’s. Alexander Graham Bell was a sharp man and incredible creator. The communication potential he was able to achieve has significantly altered the world. With his invention he created the ability to utilize electricity. Bells telephone was able to outperform any system at the time. This remarkable invention made it easy for the world to communicate.

  2. I really love the move from simplicity to complexity. With the simplicity of the telegraph, it did force the need to learn a code such as the morris code for us to communicate electronically. The fact that we had to know it was really the only reason anyone did know it at the time, but it is something that could prove useful. No matter how useful learning a simple communication system is, it will never stop progress. The ability to speak without any work in translation across a network made communication accessable to everyone, not just people able to pay a telegraph. The job of the telegraph was quickly replaced because there's no point paying someone to convey a message for you when it's as easy as saying it yourself. The wiring needed for the telephone also provided a reason to make sure wiring was everywhere and now those wires are used for a great deal of things. They're not as advanced as the fiber optic cables we use today, but those old copper wires still work with television allowing us all to enjoy the vision of program writers.

  3. The telegraph to the telephone is one of the greatest upgrades ever. The ability to hear someone's voice is better because you can relay information both quicker and easier. No longer did people have to translate morris code. The telephone and the technology used in the phone are still used today for many important jobs. The Police, Military,Firefighters, and EMTs all use this technology to communicate with eachother.
