FAX machine

The FAX was originally invented in 1843 by Alexander Bain. The fax is a method of encoding data, transmitting it over a telephone line and receiving a hard copy of the text, line drawings, or photographs at a remote location. The fax needs is consists of image scanner, a modem and a printer. Fax was a revolutionary invention for communication because it was a fast way to transmit information. in 1840's other way to transmit information was mail which would take couple of days to deliever. Fax would take couple of minutes to transmit the information. Invention of fax was a major discovery at that time.

  1. I had no idea fax machines have been in use for such a long time. Not only were these fax machines a great way to transmit information then, but they're an even better source of delivering information today! The way these fax machines worked haven't changed much, but the appearance of it sure has! that looks very complicated.

  2. From personal experience, the fax machine is one great invention. It allows you to send one to multiple pages of documents from one place to anywhere. It had to save one time and money for companies who use a fax. However, now, since e-mail has been big, companies have decided to go with attachments on emails. So in order to compete, faxes, or "efaxes" are now being sent electronically over the internet. It amazes me what they come out with now. It makes a lot of sense, plus it saves the environment by being more green friendly and instead of even having to print out the original copy to fax, it can all be done on the computer without wasting paper or a tree.
